
Feels like uptown, a “PO” folk struggle
A few days ago Anita asked me to watch a video with her. She did not tell me the name of the video, she said “You gotta check this out.” PUBLIC SPEAKING SECTION: STARTING 46:22 (HERE IS THE LINK TO VIDEO)
What I saw was a “Board of Aldermen” meeting in which business owners are questioning the “DESTRUCTION” of concrete streets in “DOWNTOWN” Branson, in the month of May. Practically opening season.
I saw individuals who for the “FIRST” time are experiencing feelings that many of us “PO” working class folks “UPTOWN” deal with on a daily basis in the low-end hotel hole game, and workforce.
The moment that impacted me was when a young lady spoke up after the why’s, how come’s, and when’s, were asked, only to say, I “JUST” purchased the property and “USED” all my savings, and now I don’t have customers.
****How Similar Is This To The Low-end Hotel Scam Game?****
“PO” folks take all their “HARD” earned income and give it to the low-end hotel landlords, only to lose everything in the end.
I know because Anita and I lost everything too.
Anita and I have been in Branson going on 5 seasons. In our stay in Branson we have always recognized the “DOWNTOWN” area as the “HEART AND SOUL” of Branson. Everything from that Icecream Parlor back is what Branson is built on.
“DOWNTOWN” represents the true meaning and history of Branson, and should “NEVER” be tampered with as everything streams upwards from there. “IT IS THE MAIN ARTERY IN BRANSON.”
****SO WHAT MAY BE ON THE AGENDA?****
Why would any city officials allow construction in a “TIME OF SEASON” that local businesses make “MAJORITY” of their income/livelihood?
1) Maybe, there was no “REAL” thought process put into this matter.
–OR–
2) Maybe, in order to bring in “NEW” businesses into the downtown area, one must concoct a way to remove the “UNWANTED” businesses. Those who are no longer welcomed. If you can’t pay the “RENT,” YOU CAN’T STAY. IF THE STREETS ARE BROKEN, NO ONE WILL COME TO PURCHASE.
****RESULTS****
Many downtown local businesses that make Branson what it is, are losing money daily, while the owners of these buildings are still requesting “RENTAL” and “ELECTRICITY” payments on time.
This is very similar to the “PO” working class “HOTEL” hole dwellers.
Some local businesses “UPTOWN” cut the locals’ work hours, just enough so the locals can’t get unemployment, and they can’t make payment. All while the hotel hole owners are demanding payment.
BUSINESSES WITHOUT STREETS = “NO MONEY” – (CITY REQUIRES PAYMENT – ALL BILLS MUST BE PAID ON TIME INCLUDING ELECTRICITY)
LOCALS WITHOUT SUSTAINABLE WORK HOURS = “NO HOTEL HOLE” – (HOLE OWNERS REQUIRES PAYMENT ON TIME OR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE “OUT IN “5” MINUTES BY 5 P.M.”) – OUT BY 5.
I believe the City of Branson construction project has been very “DISRUPTIVE” to the local businesses downtown. By closing access to these businesses, the City has “CRIPPLED” businesses in such a way that “I” believe Branson should step up and provide some type of “FINANCIAL” support while they continue to beautify the city.
How much is this costing “PO” working class folks and business owners in taxes and losses?
Keep in mind, the Safety Initiative Team declared hotels are up to code standard and now in 75 days “DOWNTOWN” will be all new. – “JUST IN TIME FOR OFF SEASON WHEN THINGS ARE SLOWING DOWN.”
It’s good to know Branson is all about cleaning up the “EXTERIOR” of Branson streets, but one must also look at the “INTERIOR” walls and floors of certain hotel holes. “OTHERWISE – BRANSON IS JUST COVERING IT UP” from my view.
