Your Guide To A Safe Place
Every day, including nights, Anita receive many calls seeking locations for emergency shelter, and food. This happens when most of you are comfortably sleeping. Pretty much 24/7. Because of the type of person Anita is, “SHE WILL ANSWER” – ANYTIME.
Anita and I, had several conversations as to what would lighten her load, especially late nights when people are in crisis. We tossed a lot of different scenarios around and finally decided that a “STATE WIDE” shelter map would be the route to go, as the times we are living in requires quick “ACTION” and “RESPONSE.”
Therefore, for the pass few weeks we focused on a project that is now complete. A project that allow businesses “NON-PROFIT / FOR PROFIT,” to make aware their shelter and/or food pantry locations.
We designed and created the “Shelters1st” resource map, to help people quickly find shelter, food, and support services across Missouri. This map is not cluttered with banners ads and is set up for “1” purpose only “SPEED”. Because when a person is in a crisis situation, they don’t have time thumbing through tons of pages to find one thing, “LOCATION.”
Therefore, Anita is asking the communities to share resource information throughout the State of Missouri. By doing so, we can keep this map accurate and growing. Right now I have put in place about 100 plus locations and that took a while. Now, you can help.
****How You Can Help (3 Simple Steps)****
1.) Find a Resource
If you know about a shelter, food pantry, clothing closet, medical outreach, or community service that helps people in need, we would love to add it.
2.) Submit the Resource
Inside the map, “CLICK HERE- Submit New Resource”
3.) Fill out the simple form with the name of the organization, location, and any helpful details. Make sure you “SET COORDINATES” before saving. This puts the marker on the map.
****Anita Will Review Your Submission****
Once submitted, Anita will review the information and add it to the map so others can find help faster, only after she verifies it, by using google search as they are pretty accurate.
This is also important as Anita has a large network, including those in the medical field. In most cases she contact these places personally to see how they can help better connect those in need with proper services.

Many people don’t know where to go when they need help.
By sharing your local resources, you help our, families, friends, and neighbors find your shelter, food, or crisis support center when they need it most.
