Yard Sales Sullivan, Mo

Anita Williams, Owner

Things I would like to know:

  1. Is A License Required To Function As A “Yard Sale” in selling gently used item on property, and is it required for an Online Virtual Store in which no one comes to my place. In other words how many people pay taxes on “YARD SALE” items and, when in Sullivan, MO was it made public that people who sell used items at their yard sales are required to charge taxes on their used items?
  2. Why should I have to charge people sales taxes when I will be filing a 1099 on my DBA business and then I will ultimately pay their taxes through “USE TAX” law based on IRS site. I’ll pay taxes based on what I can show I’ve earned. So, why charge other good people taxes when I am going to pay those taxes for them anyway?
  3. When did the law come into play that denies people rights to post a sign on the side of the street that contains the “railroad” track? That track also contain benches, and sidewalk where people walk, jog, and sit. What’s wrong with placing a sign there. It was not obstructing anything. I JUST WANT TO SEE WHEN ALL THESE RULES WERE IMPLEMENTED – MAYBE THEY WERE JUST DIRECTED TO ME, AFTERALL SOMEONE ON “ELMONT” STREET I’VE BEEN TOLD, HAVE BEEN CONDUCTING SALES IN THIS MANNER FOR A GOOD LENGTH OF TIME. DID SOMEONE FORGET TO PASS THESE REGULATIONS ONTO OTHERS WITHIN THE “CITY LIMITS.” (2 QUALIFIED DAYS) ALL YOU GET.
  4. Why wasn’t it shared with me at the very beginning (Back in May 2021) that there was a “LAW” in place prohibiting me from functioning more than (2 DAYS PER YEAR) when everyone knows yard sales are held in the “summer-time“, which limits the time and conditions in which a person can exchange gently used items. So, why would you need “QUALIFIED DAYS” when the “SEASONS” already predicts “QUALIFIED DAYS” for people who look forward to yard/garage sales?
