I was sitting back wondering the hiring process of a “SLUMLORD.”<\/strong> Why is it that “SLUMLORDS” hire<\/strong> people that “RENT” from them<\/strong>. -AND-<\/strong> In most cases these “INDIVIDUALS” are “POOR” <\/strong>and doing their “VERY BEST” to make ends<\/strong>. These “INDIVIDUALS”<\/strong> are being “SAVAGELY” used <\/strong>and taken “ADVANTAGE” of<\/strong>. Sometimes, “SLUMLORDS” get “LUCKY” <\/strong>and acquire the “HUSBAND & WIFE”<\/strong> and\/or “BOYFRIEND & GIRLFRIEND.” <\/strong>That’s “ONE” HELL OF A DEAL.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

These “INDIVIDUALS” <\/strong>believe that they are working to “COVER” their “RENT.”<\/strong> – KEEPING THEIR “SSI”<\/strong> MONEY FREE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SO HELP ME FIGURE THIS ONE OUT.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1) Less Say – Rent is $600.00 per month<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) The “COUPLE” will work, and put in, well over 40 hrs. per week<\/strong> -AND- In “MOST” cases<\/strong>, will “ALWAYS” be “ON-CALL.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) The couple will “CLEAN” out apartments\/houses<\/strong>, “TAKE CALLS”<\/strong> for the “SLUMLORD,”<\/strong> they will “SHOW” the places<\/strong> to people of interest, they will do the “PLUMBING\/ELECTRICAL,”<\/strong> as well as provide the “INTERIOR” paint job, at the request of their “SLUMLORD<\/strong>” boss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

–LET’S GO DEEPER–<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if one of these “INDIVIDUALS” owed CHILD SUPPORT?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their minds, they have “ZERO” <\/strong>income because, the work they are doing for the “SLUMLORD” goes toward the rent.<\/strong> SO THEY HAVE NO MONEY\/REAL INCOME<\/strong>. – OTHER THAN SSI,<\/strong> etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REALITY IS THIS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

RENT: $600.00 X 12 MONTHS = $7,200.00<\/strong> – YOU WORKED FOR AND EARNED.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

THAT INCOME SHOULD ALWAYS BE REPORTED<\/strong> – AT LEAST IN MY MIND<\/strong>. SOMEONE, TELL ME IF I AM WRONG ABOUT THIS.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SLUMLORD” SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHOW THAT THEY PAID<\/strong> – A “RENTER\/EMPLOYEE”<\/strong> FOR SERVICES RENDERED<\/strong>. “1099 FORM” OR WHAT HAVE YOU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AND THE RENTERS\/EMPLOYEES, SHOULD BE ABLE TO SHOW “INCOME” EARNED<\/strong>, SO THAT HE\/SHE COULD PAY “CHILD” SUPPORT IF OWED<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE WAY THE “SLUMLORDS” OPERATE NOW<\/strong> IS A KEY REASON OUR “CHILDREN” SUFFER<\/strong>. NOT PAYING THESE RENTERS\/EMPLOYEES APPROPRIATELY<\/strong>. NOT REPORTING INCOME APPROPRIATELY<\/strong>. EQUALS —“LOSS” OF CHILD SUPPORT.—<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

–WHO REALLY WINS–<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE “SLUMLORDS” <\/strong>– WHY?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think about it like this. The “SLUMLORD” got (2) TWO “GOOD” people<\/strong>, who are, in most cases “POOR” <\/strong>like myself, to handle task, that in most cases, require “PROFESSIONAL” LICENSE AND BONDED<\/strong> entities to render such service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man-hours a “PROFESSIONAL” company would charge<\/strong>, could be considered too “HIGH” FOR A “SLUMLORD.”<\/strong> So what they do, is put “INDIVIDUALS” who are “POOR” -AND- “RENTING” from them, at even more “RISK” by “HAVING” them do jobs, that are both “DANGEROUS” and UNSANITARY.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the “consequences” <\/strong>if a house “BURNED” down<\/strong>, knowing an “UNLICENSED” RENTER\/EMPLOYEE<\/strong> completed the task of fixing an<\/strong> “ELECTRICAL<\/strong>” problem at the request of his\/her “SLUMLORD.” <\/strong> WHO’S FAULT IS IT?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“SLUMLORDS”<\/strong> understand the “DIFFICULTY” “POOR”<\/strong> people face each day<\/strong>, and therefore take “ADVANTAGE” of them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SO MY QUESTION TODAY IS?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IS “RENT” CONSIDERED INCOME “EARNED” IF YOU ARE PROVIDING “LABOR” TYPE SERVICE FOR A LANDLORD?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-AND-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SHOULD THAT BE REPORTED AS INCOME TO IRS BY BOTH PARTIES?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAKE SURE<\/strong> YOU USE <\/a>CASENET AND CHECK THE AMOUNT OF EVICTIONS<\/a> <\/strong>BEFORE RENTING FROM ANY ENTITY HERE IN SULLIVAN. THIS TOOL<\/a> <\/strong>WILL BE YOUR LIFESAVER IN TERMS OF MAKING A DECISION. IF YOU BELIEVE THE BUSINESS IS IN A PERSON’S NAME “PLACE THAT NAME IN THE SEARCH TOOL.”<\/strong><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
