{"id":2554,"date":"2024-05-30T17:12:47","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T17:12:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.householddealz.com\/portfolio\/?p=2554"},"modified":"2024-05-30T17:31:07","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T17:31:07","slug":"penleigh-now-drug-testing-its-tenants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.householddealz.com\/portfolio\/penleigh-now-drug-testing-its-tenants\/","title":{"rendered":"PENLEIGH NOW DRUG TESTING ITS TENANTS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"113\" height=\"100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.householddealz.com\/portfolio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/anita-williams.png\" alt=\"Anita Williams, Owner\" class=\"wp-image-387\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, I woke up this morning to <strong>several message<\/strong>s where people have become frightened at the prospect of being forced out <strong>due to &#8220;DRUG&#8221; testing on property<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some have informed<\/strong> me, that the on property<strong> &#8220;MAINTENANCE&#8221; man is also actively supporting<\/strong> the<strong> &#8220;NEW&#8221; &#8220;OUT BY 5&#8221; RULE. &#8220;CALLED DRUG TESTING&#8221; <\/strong>game. <strong>People get ready.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I do understand that there are some people who are, and <strong>will be problematic living in semi-housing conditions<\/strong>. But to place<strong> additional pressure on those who are already bent over, is senseless to me.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, I want my readers to know, &#8220;<strong>I&#8221; believe that drug testing for &#8220;METH, COCAINE, AND OTHER HARD DRUGS IS WARRANTED&#8221; <\/strong>as we do <strong>have many children living inside of these &#8220;HOLES&#8221;<\/strong> &#8211; I do believe in respecting neighbors, <strong>so smoke your weed outside. (IT&#8217;S OKAY)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, currently the <strong>Penleigh<\/strong> is requiring a <strong>&#8220;BACKGROUND\/ CREDIT AND\/OR OTHER CHECKS, AND NOW DRUG TESTING.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8211;AND SO&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These same people <strong>who pay rent, that includes &#8220;ACCESS&#8221; to the &#8220;SWIMMING&#8221; pool<\/strong> has been informed in writing <strong>&#8220;THE POOL WILL BE CLOSED TO LEGAL RENTERS, IN ORDER TO AFFORD THE REGIONAL MANAGER PRIVATE USAGE<\/strong> OF THE POOL FOR THEIR GUEST FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/householddealz.com\/penleigh\/penleighpool.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(READ THE MESSAGE HERE)<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/householddealz.com\/penleigh\/penleighdrugtesting.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><\/strong> This to me is a <strong>&#8220;COMPLETE&#8221; insult to us &#8220;PO&#8221; folks<\/strong>. <strong>Paying renters can watch them enjoy the pool from a distant.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8212;IS THERE A PROBLEM ?&#8212;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m not a lawyer <\/strong>but I am a <strong>reasonable thinking individual<\/strong>, and I personally believe it is <strong>illegal<\/strong> to conduct business in this fashion. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/householddealz.com\/penleigh\/penleighdrugtesting.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(VIEW DRUG TESTING POLICIES) <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1)<\/strong> &#8220;It&#8217;s <strong>illegal to deny housing<\/strong> because of a handicap. <strong>&#8220;Chemical dependency is a handicap.&#8221;<\/strong> It is a disease characterized by reliance on mood or mind-altering chemicals, such as alcohol, street drugs, <strong>and certain &#8220;PRESCRIPTION&#8221; medications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I state that only to show you, <strong>there are people with &#8220;ASTHMA&#8221; and other &#8220;DISABILITIES&#8221;<\/strong> who may be using <strong>&#8220;CONTROLLED&#8221; substances and it&#8217;s &#8220;PERFECTLY&#8221; legal<\/strong>. Excluding someone from housing with a <strong>disability, is a &#8220;RISK.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2)<\/strong> This <strong>&#8220;DRUG&#8221; testing mainly targets &#8220;PO&#8221; folks like me and &#8220;MINORITIES&#8221; like my husband<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3)<\/strong> It would deny <strong>&#8220;POSSIBLE NEW&#8221; tenants<\/strong> the ability to <strong>secure an apartment<\/strong>, and make it <strong>possible to &#8220;REFUSE&#8221; to renew the leases of a handful of tenants<\/strong> who failed the tests <strong>&#8220;AFTER THEY MOVED IN.&#8221; (THIS IS DANGEROUS).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4)<\/strong> <strong>THE COST<\/strong> &#8211; Who is <strong>paying for these drug testing?<\/strong> How <strong>much are these tests?<\/strong> and are these testing <strong>being conducted in a professional manner and location?<\/strong>, such as <strong>&#8220;HOSPITAL&#8221;?<\/strong> Or, are they <strong>conducted in an unsanitary bathroom at that location?<\/strong> Who is <strong>LABELLING AND TRACKING these &#8220;piss&#8221; bottles?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5)<\/strong> Do <strong>&#8220;PENLEIGH&#8221; have money set aside<\/strong> to <strong>pay these costs for drug testing<\/strong>, as this must be done <strong>evenly across the board?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PO folks,<\/strong> there is <strong>a medical review policy<\/strong> to ensure that people taking drugs for <strong>&#8220;LEGITIMATE&#8221; <\/strong>medical reasons <strong>are not denied housing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8211;IN MISSOURI&#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PO folks<\/strong>, you do have a <strong>right to privacy as a tenant<\/strong>, and this means that you do <strong>&#8220;NOT&#8221; <\/strong>have to disclose your status as a <strong>medical marijuana patient to your landlord or property manager<\/strong>. They also <strong>cannot just come in and start searching through your stuff<\/strong>.
