Weather Alert Resource Map
The first step to getting connected to Emergency shelters, Food Pantries, Hospitals, Fire Stations, Police Departments, Health Departments, and WIC entities.
In a time when so many families are forced to live the nomadic lifestyle, people are more than ever requiring tools that will enable them to find emergency resources quickly.
Because Anita and I were forced (Due to certain family members’ ignorance) into experiencing this type of nomadic living, we tracked what we thought were important places to know as we were constantly moving. Even though we were homeless and struggling to make ends meet, we still found time to help others. In Colorado Springs, Anita and I as well as our youngest son volunteered at the local Food Pantry to assist with distributing food to struggling families. Also, in Pueblo, Colorado Anita raised $5,000 for Pueblo High School Wildcats Baseball Team (All while certain family members were attacking us, keeping us nomadic, sometimes bathing at the river). Our story will be told as I am preparing it, as it is similar to (Pete Buttigieg Story) – Through his story we finally know the terms of what happened to us “SWATTING” , thanks to family members like Ron L. Williams, Cherly A. Allen, Lisa E. Best, Germaine Ward, Shirely Williams, Patrica Alsabrook, Sue Corn, just to name a few, our pain is 100 times greater than Mr. Buttigieg. I did send a note to Mr. Buttigieg to share with him and his family our heartfelt sympathy. Anita and I wanted Mr. Buttigieg to know that “You never overcome the pain”. You never forget. “SWATTING” destroys good families. It destroys credit and a person’s right to live respectfully. From 1992 – 2022 this happened to us. This will require the attention of congress to combat this behavior. “NO MORE SWATTING”
Through it all we knew where food pantries, public libraries, local hospitals, health departments, and local resource centers like Community Action entities were located. In essence we learned our surroundings quickly.
Because of the real struggles taking place right now in the United States, it is certain that emergency resource entities will be called upon much more than even they expected as our economy continues worsening.
Because of these circumstances, we’ve created the “Shelter1st App” equipped with a weather alert system. Design to help you quickly locate entities mentioned above. This map is simple and clear. Green light = Open, Red light = Close. Check the “Open Now Only” checkbox for those results. There are no banner ads or stuff like that.
Click an entity name on the “ERL” menu and a card pops up. The card produces Address, Phone, Get Directions, and Report Location. Driving directions does just that, it takes you to the emergency listing you’ve requested via google maps with location in place. If your location is not listed correctly, and/or you want it removed, use the “Report Location” link and fill in that box and send it to us.
While inside the map you will notice 2 links. “View Branson Outreach Disaster Plan,” and “Emergency Management Agency Locations” They are self explanatory. Click to view their content.
Our map is set to show you the state location you are living in when you initially open it. Also, we have it set to re-open to the last state you leave. So, if you were looking in Florida when you exit the map, you will return to Florida when you reopen it.
You also have the ability to help with this process. Click on the “Submit New Resource” button and send us the information you want listed. Important! – After you fill in your Organization Name, Street Address, City, and State information, immediately click the “Set Coordinates” button. That will then let you know your card coordinates are set and ready. Then proceed to fill in the rest of the form and click “Save Location” – that’s it. Anita or I will approve and/or deny. We’ve set the form to only allow 1 submit in a 24-hour period.
This map started with Missouri only in mind. WE ARE EXPANDING. So, if your state is not listed at this time, you can believe we are working on it. Once your state is complete, it will show in the Select State menu list.
